Salsa class instructs different dance techniques and skills so students can use them when they join salsa affairs. This Latin dance is best danced by a couple. The types of salsa are as varied as the techniques. But the most basic requirement is to know the fundamental steps and skills to dance it well.

A salsa class can provide many dance techniques to salsa dance lovers. For example, the lead must help the follow look good in the dance floor. This is often the case in salsa dancing. If a man tries too hard to do a lot of moves at the same time, the lady partner might get lost. The job of the man in a salsa dance is to help his lady partner have fun at the dance floor. The skill level of the woman is not a criteria for having fun even if she is a total beginner, a struggling intermediate or a seasoned dancer. All that matters is when the music is finished, the woman feels glad and fulfilled with the presentation.

How to Do Salsa Hold

This is how the salsa dance begins. The partners take their respective position at the start of the dance. The salsa hold deems that the partners stand separately. The man’s left hand grips the woman’s right hand. The man’s right hand is placed either on the woman’s shoulder, hip or waist, if they are doing a closed hold. In an open hold the man’s right hand holds the lady’s left hand.

Fundamental Steps

Learning the foundational steps is vital to this dance. Stand facing your partner. Keep feet together. The follow starts with the right foot. The man starts on their left foot. The man and woman make the same count.

A good technique to bear in mind when stepping is to use the ball of the foot. The heel is lowered only when the weight is shifted. Keep knees bent when dancing to be able to swing your hips properly.

Upper Body Moves

In salsa dance, the lower body moves but the upper body must stay stiff. Movement of arms when dancing in a salsa class must come fluidly stemming primarily from the footwork.
